- Studies published 1990 or later for relevance.
- Studies with an explicit focus on risk dictating decision making as defined above.
- Studies with an explicit equal focus on both risk assessment and decision making as defined above.
- Studies with explicit analysis on the impact the risk assessment had on the decision making process.
- Original research (qualitative and quantitative reports) and/or review of existing research.
For an article to be excluded from this study, it must meet one of the following criteria:
- Studies published before 1990.
- Studies with no explicit focus on risk directing decision making.
- Studies with no equal and explicit focus on both risk assessment and decision making.
- Studies with no explicit analysis on the impact the risk assessment had on the decision making process.
- Studies that included technical analysis or modeling.
- Not original research or review of existing research.
