We are glad to have Mary Parker as the Research Administrator of Grants and Contracts Management at the Center for Foodborne Illness Research and Prevention (CFI).
Mary Parker joined the CFI management team as the lead Grants and Contracts Specialist in July 2021. In this role, she works closely with the project manager on the budgets for the TARTARE, Chakula Salama, and FAIRE projects.
A Certified Public Accountant, Mary earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in May of 1991. She has worked as an accountant for Ravid & Bernstein, served as a Senior Tax Accountant for Ernst & Young, was a supervisor for Strothman & Company, and volunteered as an income tax assistant for military soldiers, dependents, and civilians overseas.
Mary has spent the last twenty years working in various areas of community leadership; dedicating her time to working with groups such as military spouses and the Girl Scouts of America. Throughout the years, her volunteer work has become an unexpected yet fulfilling full-time job. One that has allowed her to dedicate innumerable hours to intentional outreach, instructional teaching, youth education, and intellectual growth, staff training, and the support of military families experiencing deployment.
Mary has ample experience supervising audit teams, preparing tax returns, and performing various functions of audit, review, and compilations at a variety of industry levels. However, Mary's commitment to supporting the military and youth communities has allowed her to merge her expertise in accounting with her ability to thoroughly engage with local and external communities.
