
We are glad to have Gina Kramer as the Associate Director of Partnerships, Policy, and Learning at the Center for Foodborne Illness Research and Prevention (CFI).
Gina (Nicholson) Kramer is an experienced global food safety & quality expert; and entrepreneur with 20+ years leading successful programs, projects and companies. An accomplished leader, she manages change through building strategic working relationships, and establishes trust and motivates associates by using continuous improvement methods and empowerment management systems. She is the Founder and former Executive Director of Savour Food Safety International, Inc. and Savor Safe Food. Two companies serving the food & beverage industry, from farm to fork, through auditing, consulting and training. In 2019, both companies were acquired by Matrix Sciences International, Inc. Gina then served as the Director of Advisory Services for Matrix Sciences International during the transition.
Gina is the former Global Director of Retail Food Services for NSF International and led NSF’s team of talented retail food safety experts in 3rd party auditing, consulting, and technical services. She worked with major global retail brands such as Sodexo, HMS Host, T.G.I. Friday’s and Jack in the Box.
She also owned and operated her own organic bakery, served as Manager of Public Health Promotions, as a Registered Sanitarian at the Columbus Public Health Department, and as Senior Manager of Food Safety & Quality at The Kroger Co.
Gina’s skills in food safety education, training, and systems development have already helped other national retailers build ambitious food process improvement programs. Projects focused on food safety & quality, and the successful establishment of a food safety culture within these organizations.
She is also a very active member of several food safety committees including STOP Foodborne Illness (former Chair of the Board of Directors), as well as several committees with the Conference for Food Protection, the International Association for Food Protection (past chair of the Retail Foodservice PDG) and a member of the Development Committee for the Partnership for Food Safety Education. She is also an active contributor and member of Food Safety Magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board.
Gina attended Ohio-based Ashland University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Human Biology. She is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) in the state of Ohio and a Registered Environmental Health Specialist through the National Environmental Health Association.
