Anticipated completion of B.S. Computer Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2023

Chris Yao is a third-year Computer Science and Engineering undergraduate student with a minor in Mathematics at The Ohio State University. Throughout his undergraduate career, Chris has developed several computer programs and software applications using languages such as Java and C#. In 2019, Chris developed an application called WeCyle in collaboration with his fellow Hack Ohio teammates. The WeCyle app detects whether items are recyclable and won the team first place. Chris's current research interests involve computer science and mathematics, but more specifically the design and analysis of algorithms and computing theory. In the future, Chris plans to attend graduate school and conduct research in theoretical computer science.

As a Computer Science Intern with CFI since November 2020, Chris has used the software R to develop a data dashboard for displaying foodborne disease data. Moreover, he has worked on developing an efficient program for transforming delimited text files into CSV files using Java and has conducted data analysis on large datasets using SAS and R. Outside of school, Chris pursues his passion for cooking, running, weightlifting, and playing video games.
