Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Food Safety; Current Topics in Food Safety - Guest Lecture Tuesday (1/10) with Mary Angela Miller and Katie Stolte-Carroll

We are excited to be kicking off the Spring 2023 Semester with not one, but two spectacular guest speakers for our FDSCTE 7727 Interdisciplinary Colloquium on Food Safety; Current Topics in Food Safety course! Tomorrow’s guest speakers are Mary Angela Miller and Katie Stolte-Carroll!

Mary Angela MillerMary, also known as “MAM, the Food Safety Dietitian,” is a small business entrepreneur, and founder of KeepSafe Food, offering consumers products to “Protect their Plates” for personal food safety. Mary Angela spent 15 years as Nutrition Services Director at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, 13 years as a healthcare administrator and now as an adjunct professor in the College of Medicine, Health & Rehabilitation Sciences.  Mary Angela is a Keynote Speaker, Food Safety Dietitian, Nutrition Expert, Mediterranean Diet Ambassador, and ServSafe Proctor. Mary Angela holds an MSc from Case Western Reserve University, a BSc from Youngstown State University where she graduated University Valedictorian and completed an Executive Program in Healthcare Administration at The Ohio State University. 

 

Katie Stolte-CarrollKatie Stolte-Carroll has long remained committed to health and wellness, personal growth and engagement, student support and education, and fostering the development of emerging leaders. For 8 years Katie has utilized her expertise in Veterinary Public Health and Biology with an Agriculture emphasis, to advance the organizational systems and specialized practices of the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Katie has accrued numerous certifications throughout the years, from fitness to food and agriculture. Katie currently serves as Project Coordinator at the Center for Foodborne Illness Research and Prevention (CFI). Katie received her MPH in Veterinary Public Health at The Ohio State University, and BSc in Pre-Veterinary Medicine; Biology with an Agricultural Emphasis and Chemistry Minor from the University of Findlay.
